Clear the ground

Woods, brush, old buildings and junk out; a workable site in.

Land clearing

Most East Tennessee lots start as woods, brush or an old field gone wild. We clear what has to go, leave what you want kept, and get the ground ready for whatever comes next: a house site, a driveway, a septic system or open pasture.

  • Brush, saplings and overgrowth
  • Clearing for house sites and driveways
  • Fence-line and pasture clearing
  • Debris piled for burning or hauled off, as the job allows

Tree removal

Trees in the footprint of a house, drive or drain field have to come out, stumps and roots included, or they cause trouble later. We take them out with the machine and clean up behind it.

  • Trees in a building or drive footprint
  • Stump and root removal with the excavator
  • Cleanup and debris handling

Old buildings & cleanup

Bought a property with sheds falling in and junk piled behind the barn? One of our customers did. We cleared out the old buildings and debris so the land could be used again.

  • Old sheds and outbuildings
  • Junk and debris left on a property
  • Cleanup before a new build

Dig & install

Septic systems, utility trenches and pool holes, dug to the plan.

Septic installs

A septic system is only as good as the ground it sits in and the care taken putting it there. Every system starts with a permit and a soil evaluation from the state or county; we install the tank and field lines to that permit, at the grades it calls for, and leave it ready for inspection before it is covered.

  • New-construction septic systems
  • Tank setting and field-line trenches
  • Installation to the permit's layout and depths
  • Ready for the inspector before backfill

Underground utilities

Water lines, sewer lines and electrical conduit all need a trench at the right depth and a clean backfill. We dig and backfill utility runs so your plumber and electrician can do their part.

  • Water and sewer line trenches
  • Conduit trenches for power to a house, barn or shop
  • Backfill and cleanup
  • 811 ticket called in before digging

Pool installs

A pool hole has to be the right size, level and on a firm base, and in East Tennessee that often means digging through red clay and rock. Our photos show a fiberglass pool going into a gravel-bedded hole we dug.

  • Pool excavation
  • Gravel base and leveling
  • Setting the pool and backfilling
  • Hauling off the spoil or spreading it on site

Build the pad

House sites, footers and the dirt work every build stands on.

House sites & pads

A house site is cut, filled and graded so the foundation sits on firm ground and water runs away from it. On a hillside lot that means planning where the cut dirt goes and where the drive comes in before the first bucket of dirt moves.

  • House pads and building pads
  • Basement digs
  • Cut and fill on sloped lots
  • Final grade so water drains away

Footers

Footers are dug to the size on your plans, down to firm soil and below frost depth. We dig them clean and square so your concrete crew and the inspector have nothing to fix.

  • Footers for homes, garages and additions
  • Footers for barns and shops
  • Digging to plan dimensions and firm soil

Dirt work & grading

Whatever the job calls for: leveling a yard, backfilling a foundation, shaping a slope, moving a pile of dirt from where it is to where it should be. One customer called it bringing a long-neglected driveway back to life.

  • Grading and leveling
  • Foundation backfill
  • Yard shaping and final grade
  • Moving and spreading fill

Drive & finish

Gravel driveways, drainage, concrete and the final grade.

Driveways

A good gravel driveway starts with a graded base, a crown or slope to shed water and ditches or culverts where water crosses. We build new drives and rework old ones that have washed out or gone to ruts.

  • New gravel driveways
  • Regrading washed-out or rutted drives
  • Shaping for drainage
  • Long drives on rural lots

Gravel

Gravel for a new drive, a parking pad, a building pad or a fresh top coat on an old driveway. We spread and grade it so it stays put.

  • Driveway base and topping
  • Parking and building pads
  • Gravel around new homes

Concrete

Concrete is part of the list on our listing, and it often finishes a job we started with the excavator. Ask us about the concrete work your project needs.

!Before any dig

Permits and 811 come first.

Septic systems need a permit and soil evaluation from TDEC or, in Jefferson and Sevier counties, the county’s own program. Every dig needs a Tennessee 811 ticket so buried utility lines get marked. Shoreline work on Douglas Lake needs a TVA Section 26a permit. We’ll talk through what your job needs before it starts.

$Pricing

Priced after we see the ground.

Rock, slope, access, wet ground and how far dirt or gravel has to travel all change the cost of a job. So we walk the site, lay out the work and give you the price before the machine moves. You decide.
